EdRevisions inaugural year focused on amplifying the growth of learner-centered education through events, it was a successful year with a team of 11 working hard to show the importance of learner-centered education with three successful events. Take a look below at those events and their impact.
Innovation Day 2017
Innovation Day showcased the innovative programs Cedar Rapids has to offer! There were two components to this event. The Innovation Fair was a "gallery walk" of projects hosted by students. These projects were a insider look into what students within these programs do everyday. The second component, "EdTalks" occurred to give the programs an opportunity to speak about what they do and the non-traditional learning style they experience. This allowed attendees to understand what the program is, how they do it, and how they can be a part of it!
Student Voice Rally 2017
Hosted by Iowa SLI, The Student Voice Rally brought together hundreds of diverse students from across Iowa to form a unified voice from the students of Iowa. The day begun with hearing from political leaders, student advocates, and passionate adults that are pleading for student voices to be involved in the political realm. Then, the group transitioned to groups based on their school or areas of passion and were trained by professional lobbyists to craft their messages. Our team was there representing the importance of learner-centered education. The rally then ended in the Capitol rotunda meeting with legislators from both parties of the Senate and House of Representatives.
Ed/Stu Camp 2017
Ed/Stu Camp 2017 was the first event EdRevision Co-hotsed. There were many intriguing breakout sessions which ranged from engaging more student voices, redesigning the traditional school/classroom, creating more learning styles available to students, to not being separated by age/grade but rather by the student's ability to learn and much more. The young learners who attended blew our crowd away; their passion for transforming education is inspiring!
A special “Thank-you” to all of the participants!
